- Emotional check-in responses
- Optional profile info (first name, age range, gender, pronouns)
- Provider connection code (if you choose to link with a therapist)
Information we generate:
- Behavioral patterns (e.g., trends in mood, regulation, social connection)
- Emotional risk scores based on check-in data
- Optional push notification engagement
We do not collect precise location, voice recordings, or messages.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To personalize support and coping strategies
- To detect emotional drift or crisis warning signs
- To generate insights for you and your provider (if linked)
- To improve our platform through anonymized, aggregate analytics
We do not sell your data. We don't use your check-in responses for marketing or advertising.
4. Sharing Your Data
We only share data under these conditions:
- With your provider (optional): If you link to a therapist or healthcare partner, they can access insights and reports you've agreed to share.
- For research: With your consent, we may use anonymized data for behavioral health research.
- To comply with the law: If legally required (e.g., subpoena), we may share minimal necessary data.
5. Your Privacy Choices
- You can use the app anonymously with limited features
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings, and all your PHI and identifiable data will be removed from our Database permanently in accordance with the HIPAA Privacy Rule Safe Harbor.
- You control provider linking—it's never automatic
6. Data Security
We use secure encryption, HIPAA-compliant storage, and strict access controls. Our team is trained in privacy best practices. We audit systems regularly.
7. Children's Privacy
Kay AI is intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18.
8. Changes to This Policy
If we make significant changes, we'll notify you in-app or via email. The latest version is always available in your settings.
